If you are, and you’re based in the UK, you’ll love the new website I’m launching today!

Arts Around Britain is a new blog with the aim of promoting exhibitions and perfomances at the many small galleries and arts centres around the country. Whether you’re into fine art, theatre, sculpture, music or film, or many of [...]

This is just a test post – we’re doing some blog tracking research at work, and we need to see if it’s working. So The Point is a community arts building in the heart of Doncaster.

I’m back from UnConvention!  Well, actually, I came back on Saturday night, but I’ve been pretty much asleep ever since.
I have to say, it was brilliant! Kinda what I was expecting but kinda not. For example, the very first person I met was Andrew Dubber (@dubber), closely followed by Johnny Beirne (@johnnybeirne) and Tracey Dempsey [...]

Next week I’m off to my first ever music conference. I’m going to Unconvention in Salford – the music conference with a difference and pies (and now cake, too, apparently!) Basically it’s a grass roots conference dealing with current music industry issues… illegal downloading, the way forward for small labels, etc. Should be good!
The thing [...]

Yay!! I’ve finally booked my tickets for Un-convention Salford!
The event takes place on the 4th, 5th and 6th of June and is a mixture of music industry discussion, panels and showcases! I’m really looking forward to the conference… lots of learning and loads of people to meet! Like Andrew Dubber of New Music Strategies and [...]

Well, I hope not, obviously… I hope it’s ravenous sex with a beautiful woman when I’m about 70, but you get the idea.
I’ve just spent the last god knows how long trying to sort out the nameservers for my new dedicated server. See, it worked… but not a lot.
I’d got the server working, and some [...]

It was a busy day yesterday, so I didn’t get chance to tell you all that James Stretton’s website, which I’ve been working on since April, finally launched yesterday.
Orichalcum – World of Brass is the culmination of everything James has been working towards for, well.. a good while – if not his entire life! Formerly [...]

I’ve just signed up for a new hosting account with DreamHost (www.DreamHost.com). They’ve been recommended by a couple of people, and I’ve been wanting to move my PHP stuff to a new host for a while.
As you may be aware, I’m a .NET programmer – but I use a PHP/MySQL/Wordpress solution for my blogs. M6 [...]

I have… A Job!

In: Life| Work Stuff

8 Jun 2007

Yep, that’s right. Today I finally moved to the dark side and started a proper job. Yes that’s right, you know where you have to actually GO to work, and you’re on PAYE (Pay As You Earn).
It’s quite novel actually, I’ve never had a proper job before. Admittedly it’s only 1 day per week, but [...]

For the past couple of months I’ve been working on a web design and branding exercise for a client, Jim Stretton. I was introduced to Jim by another Jim (there’s a lot of Jim’s round Doncaster..) as “the man who can fix any computer”. Not a bad accolade, but I then had to live up [...]
