I don’t know how many of my readers watch X Factor – a large number I suspect, given the chatter on Twitter over the past few weeks.
But don’t you think it’s getting rather boring? For the last umpteen years, the Christmas No. 1 single has been an Celebrity Pop Factor Idol winner. It begs the question… what about the real records?
Okay, okay, so they ARE real records. But it’s not the same.
So. myself and a few friends have decided to start an anti-XFactor campaign. Nothing sinister, just trying to get everyone with a spare couple of quid and some sense to all buy the same record in the hope of stopping the X Factor winner Joe McElderry from claiming the top spot.
Logic suggests that we should all buy the same single (clearly), and that it should be one that is released in the Christmas week (beginning tomorrow). So, according to Music Week, we have a few choices…
- 30H!3 feat. Katy Perry – Starstrukk
- Beyonce feat. Lady Gaga – Video Phone
- Andrea Bocelli – White Christmas
- Michael Buble – Hold On
- The Ian Carey Project – Shot Caller
- Coldstream Guards – The Great Escape
- Whitney Houston – I Look To You
- Kid Sister – Right Hand Hi
- Madonna – Revolver
- Metro Station – Kelsey
- George Michael – December Song (I Dreamed of Christmas)
- Mini Viva – I Wish
- Noisettes – Every Now And Then
- Passion Pit – Little Secrets
- Pet Shop Boys – Christmas EP
- Shakira – Did It Again
- Taylor Swift – Fifteen
- Vampire Weekend – Cousins
Quite a few! Surely something in there is deserving of the Christmas No. 1?
Before I pick a track to tell you all to buy though, I want your thoughts on which one we should go for. Have you heard any of them? Do you have a favourite artist releasing a single? Is there anything you really don’t want to get to No. 1?
Leave your thoughts in the comments, and tomorrow morning we’ll pick a track everyone can go and buy.
We can do this – let’s #ScrewXFactor!

I’d go for Micheal Buble or Andrea Bocelli myself. I know that they can both sing very well and I like them although they have differing styles.

Enough of lining the pockets of Simon Cowell, enough rubbish Christmas number ones! #screwxfactor!
Bocelli’s story is more inspiring than any xfactor wanna-be, his music is so much better than any of them as well!
Vote Bocelli
