19 Sep 2009Today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Worth noting, if only because my pares were dis-interested in the whole idea!
TLAPD, to give it it’s shorter title, was started by John Baur and Mark Summers - 2 pirate-slang loving guys waaay back in 1995. One day, there were overheard. And then they were mentioned in some magazine or other, and the next you know… we have Talk Like A Pirate Day!
I’m not quite sure when it became “International” (I suspect the creation of the website in 2007 had something to do with it), but whatever – it’s a great excuse for lots of pirate talk and silliness!
You can find out more about International Talk Like A Pirate Day at their website, where you can also bag lots of piratey loot, and brush up on your Pirate speak!
So… It’s Pirtate Day. Avast, me hearties! Ye be warned!!
